Leslie Weir
Leslie Weir, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, leads Library and Archives Canada. She has had a varied career in public, government and academic libraries. Before coming to Library and Archives Canada, Ms. Weir was the University librarian at the University of Ottawa. Active in professional associations/initiatives she has been President of Canadian Association of Research Libraries, Canadiana.org and the Ontario Library Association, Chair of the Ontario Council of University Libraries, a member of the Board of the Association of Research Libraries and is currently a Professional Division Chair of the International Federation of Libraries Association. Ms. Weir holds a Masters in Library Science from McGill University and a Bachelor of Arts (Canadian History) from Concordia University. |

She holds a Master’s of Arts in English Literature from the University of Ottawa and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario. Sandra Montanino Navig8 PD Sandra Montanino is the Founder/Principal of Navig8 PD, a consulting and training company that helps organizations support their employees in developing the skills to navigate the workplace for professional success. Sandra is passionate about the need to apply a D&I and wellness lens to professional skills programs, such as communication, teamwork, relationship-building, managing others and oneself. A lawyer by background, she spent over 17 years as the Director, Professional Development of a major Bay Street law firm, where she oversaw, managed and developed the firm’s substantive, wellness, EDI, and skills-based development programs for law students, lawyers and business clients. |
John Papadopoulos Toronto Metropolitan University Law Library John Papadopoulos is the Head of the Law Library at Toronto Metropolitan University. He holds a JD and a Masters of Information Studies degree, both from the University of Toronto. He has worked in Law Libraries for over 25 years and is a co-author of The Practical Guide to Canadian Legal Research (Thomson Reuters). |
Joan Rataic-Lang Toronto Lawyers Association Joan Rataic-Lang is Executive Director of the Toronto Lawyers Association and Library Director of the Courthouse Library. She is a great proponent of professional development, both as an avid participant and as an enthusiastic provider, having been on the organizing committees of several national conferences and as an occasional speaker both locally and nationally. Joan obtained her MLIS from McGill (1986) and in 2018 she received her CAE designation. She has been at the Toronto Lawyers Association since 2010. Before that she managed large law firm libraries and also worked in sales, education and executive search. |
Laura Richmond torys llp Laura Richmond is a Senior Librarian at Torys. Her professional experience spans several different types of legal organizations including law firms, government, and courthouse libraries. All of her roles have involved designing and delivering legal research education for students, lawyers, and other legal professionals. |
Cecilia Rose Stikeman Elliott LLP Cecilia Rose is the Legal Technology Applications Specialist at Stikeman Elliott LLP, where she has worked since 2016. In this role she works with the KM & Innovation team to make legal technology tools available to firm members, providing training and technical support, and developing in-house tools using a suite of innovative platforms, including contract review, document automation, and expert systems. Cecilia has filled many roles at TALL since becoming a member in 2017, and currently serves as the chair of the TALL IT Committee. |
Jessica Sheppard legislative assembly of ontario Jessica Sheppard has been a Research Librarian at the Legislative Library for nearly seven years. She specializes in the subject areas of justice and social issues. Jessica is also a Promotions Coordinator for the Legislative Library and is the Past Chair of the Library’s Client Outreach Team. Prior to working at the Assembly, Jessica worked at both the Ontario Court of Appeal’s Judges’ Library and the Ministry of Environment’s Information & Resource Centre. She graduated from U of T’s MI program in 2014, and holds a BAH in English Literature from Queen’s University. |
Kate Terech legislative assembly of ontario Kate Terech is currently working as a Circulation Technician at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. She earned her B.A. in History from the University of Western Ontario in 2010. In 2013, she graduated from Seneca College with a Library and Information Technician diploma. Since April 2020, she has served on the Board of Directors with the Ontario Association of Library Technicians as their External Communications Coordinator. In 2021, she became a member of the executive committee for the Toronto Association of Law Libraries and serves as Secretary, and Chair of the Social Committee. |
Martin Tomlinson Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP is a 160 year old law firm comprising 500 lawyers and nearly 800 professional support staff across six offices. Martin leads a strong team providing library services to the firm and works to nurture their growth and integration with firm goals and priorities. Prior to Osler, Martin worked in library and knowledge management at another large Toronto firm, in public and university libraries, and for a company selling computer services to libraries. Outside work, Martin enjoys sharing time with children at a school in Honduras, visiting family, including his first granddaughter, singing, and travel. |
Le Dieu Tran legislative assembly of ontario Le Dieu Tran is the Data Visualization Librarian at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario where she supports a team of librarians and research officers in the Legislative Library and Legislative Research. Her day-to-day work involves creating data visualizations, wrangling with data, making maps and web design. |
Leo Wang OSLER, HOSKIN & HARCOURT LLP Leo is a Legal Technologist in Osler’s Legal Operations team. He has an interest in using design thinking, process improvement and technology to improve internal efficiency and client service delivery. Prior to joining Osler, he was a corporate lawyer in the Toronto office of a global law firm and a product designer at a legal technology company. |
Minyan Wang Ontario digital services, ontario government Minyan is a Senior UX Designer at the Ontario Digital Service, which is a part of the Ontario government. In her role, she designs digital services through a human-centred approach by hearing directly from users. Prior to joining the government, Minyan worked at Bridgeable, a service design consultancy, where she created resources for science education. |
